Summertime Money-saving Fuel suggestions from Douglas VW

 

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could change the price of gas? Well you can`t.

However we do have a few tricks to offer to help make your vehicle a little more cost-efficient to run this Summer:

Slow down…. Take it easy.

 

Did you know that by having a “heavy foot” when accelerating OR even braking, will cut your fuel economy up to five percent when just buzzing around town and goes up to thirty-three percent when racing around the highways?? So slow down. The Shore is still going to be there even if it take you an extra 40 minutes to get there.

 

Keep it clean.

 

When was the last time you replaced your air filter? You don`t remember do you? Well remember this; a clean air filter

will bolster your acceleration up to eleven percent AND also keep harmful impurities out of your engine.

 

 

Regular maintenance.

 

When you aren’t feeling well you usually go see a doctor to get something to prevent it from turning into something else right?

Well that engine isn`t all that different. Correcting any issues as soon as possible is the key to a long & happy engine life.

Did you know that an obviously out of tune vehicle OR perhaps even one that failed an emissions test will get four percent less gas mileage on average?

That adds up quick at the pump nowadays.

 

How`s the Air up there?

 

Now this seems really simple but is easily overlooked. Tires. Did you know that by having under inflated OR over

inflated tires you can really be putting a damper on your fuel economy? As a matter of fact, by keeping a tire gauge in that glove box

and by keeping an eye on the correct air pressure, you will boost your fuel economy up to 3.5 percent!

Now that`s not too hard to take is it?

To much junk in the trunk!

 

Do you really need to take all of that stuff this weekend? Believe it or not, extra weight causes your vehicle to work a little harder

AND drink a little more fuel than normal. He/she who travels fastest,(& most fuel efficient) travels lightest.

 

Just cruise.

 

Ever use cruise-control much? You should because by keeping a consistent speed, your gas mileage will increase.

 

Don`t just sit there and idle.

 

Do you know how many miles per gallon you`re getting when your car just sits there idling?

That would be a big negative OR Zero miles per gallon. Shut your engine off please?

 

Plan better.

Why take a bunch of unnecessary trips? By merging your tasks into one trip you will not only save time(no extra trips!) but

obviously save on fuel too.

By using these tips and a little common sense, you will save dollars at the pump and fuel in your tank.
